NEW JERSEY · REFERENCE BRIEF

Assignment notices need a reliable handoff.

Covered dispatches require written information. Keep it accurate when the assignment changes.

The starting point

Section 3 of New Jersey’s TWBR requires an assignment statement at dispatch, in English and the worker’s identified primary language. For a continuing assignment, another notice is required when listed terms change. Schedule, shift or location changes on multi-day assignments require 48 hours’ notice when possible.

For the staffing agency

Maintain a repeatable notice and change-notification process.

For the employer / client

Tell the agency promptly when duties, schedules or work locations change.

Suggested operational next steps

  1. Confirm who sends and retains each notice.
  2. Test one assignment from intake through dispatch.
  3. Agree how the client will communicate changes.
